Thailand Marine Science Conference 2014

Logo MS2014In 2014 the Prince of Songkla University will be hosting the 4th Thailand Marine Science Conference in Hat Yai. The conference is one of the biggest in the region, and pulls together about 500 professionals working in universities or marine science and management organizations from around the country, as well as about 2,000 students and general public. The conference goals include expanding interest in marine science and encouraging the sharing of knowledge, opinions, and experiences. Not only does this provide academics and professionals an outlet to share their research, it also strengthens Thailand’s network of reef researchers and managers.
The 3 day conference will run from June 10th-June 12th, and includes a wide range of topics covering almost every aspect of coral reef science, policy, and management. In addition to the presentations, workshops, and poster displays, there will also be a photocontest and an award ceremony for authors of academic papers.
The event is free to the public and will be held at the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center, at the Prince of Songkla Campus, Hat Yai. You can find out more information about the event on their webpage.
Members of our team at the New Heaven Reef Conservation Program will also be participating in this event. Chad will be giving an oral presentation and a poster presentation, and Shin will be giving a poster presentation. Of course both will also be hoping to win the photocontest.
