Research Coordinator
Location: New Heaven Dive School, Chalok Ban Kao, Koh Tao, Suratthani, Thailand
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all data collected each day is entered into computer correctly
- Analyzing and organizing databases and photographs
- Producing maps, graphs, or other graphic methods of showing the data to the wider community
- Update website and social media pages regularly
- Assist in the knowledge and skill development of new students to the Reef Conservation Course (both on land and while diving)
- Assisting on ongoing research and restoration projects
- Joining on activities sponsored by the Save Koh Tao Community Group (clean-ups, tree planting, fundraisers, etc)
- Publish or act as co-author on papers based on research conducted (great benefit to you!)
Knowledge, skills, & experience requirements
- Love of nature and working outside
- Relevant College degree in a scientific field or past work in a related field
- Ability to work with data
- Good communication skills and outgoing personality
- Computer literate, with knowledge of most of the following programs:
- Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
- Photoshop (or similar program)
- SPSS or other statistical programs
- arcGIS
- Google Earth
- Joomla, or other PHP editor
- Able to handle multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team
